Sažetak
Cystatin C, a low molecular mass endogenous protein, is a novell marker of glomerular filtration rate. However, it is still uncertain whether cystatin C has advantage over serum creatinine concentration, creatinine clearance measurement, as well as creatinine clearance estimation using Cockroft-Gault formula in evaluation of renal function. In the present study we prospectively compared above parameters to creatinine clearance determination in 89 patients with various degrees of renal function (Table1). Therefore, cystatin C has no advantage over serum creatinine measurement and cannot replace determination of creatinine clearance as a clinical marker of glomerular filtration rate.
