Scientific Community of Croatia as on-line community in this paper has been considered as organized way of using powerful communication media &#8211 ; such as Internet - to improve existing science and research relationship and to form new virtual communities. Academic community was a framework for Internet development in Croatia &#8211 ; based on CARNet (Croatian Academic and Research Network) infrastructure. As popularity of Internet in Croatia has been increasing, Government Office for Strategic Planning in its document &#8220 ; Strategy for 21st Century&#8221 ; made several requests to Academic Community: (1) preparation for using new technologies in lifelong education ; (2) scientists in all fields are encouraged to work in interdisciplinary research on economic and social consequences of using technology and collaborate in international projects on this issues ; (3) creating national content to encourage usage of Internet, accessing to global data bases and (4) to create new educational plans that should have sensibility for needs for new people of economy and society. To achieve this goal Croatian scientific and research community should be given access to broadband connections and equipped with latest products of information and communication technology. Commercial partners, driven by same goals and interests, have also been investing in projects within academic community. Projects launched by Croatian Government (such as &#8220 ; Europe and Us&#8221 ; , initiated and implemented by the Ministry of European Integration) have been very helpful in fulfilling these goals. Nevertheless, the majority of the work on all three levels - institutional, national and international - has been conducted by CARNet and other organized institutions within Croatian academic community.
