Sažetak
The paper deals with and explains the basic directives of the quality management program "Six Sigma". It discusses especially the statistical definition of the program and its relation to the process competence and the Taguchi function of losses. Also, the so-called philosophy of the "Six Sigma" program is presented in general. The authors have indicated the basic reasons for which "Six Sigma" can be a powerful tool in the quality improvement procedures.
