Sažetak
The article deals with some basics concerning the conscription of the inhabitants of the Lika territory in 1712. The greatest obstacle for a detailed analysis is the fact that for females and male minors there is no information available besides their sheer number. The proportion of females to males in these villages resembles censuses in the Balkans in the 19th century and the high proportion of minors indicate that there was no systemattic under-registration of them. Information about the age of the counted persons is not very exact: about half of them have ages with the final digit "o" which indicates a high tendency to round their ages. The households were almost all headed by men, which were mostly the oldest in their respective households. The probability that not the oldest male was heading the household increased with the size of the household and was higher for Vlachs than for Catholics.
