Sažetak
Hydroelectric power plant &laquo ; ; Rama&raquo ; ; has been built on the river Rama just before it joins through a steep canyon the river Neretva in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its water dam is dumped rockfill dam with the building height of 103m having the reinforced-concrete face slab. Concrete face plates are subjected to various conditions causing stress variations such as: differential settlements, daily and seasonal variations of temperature and moisture and occasional earthquakes. These complex conditions induce different types of damage to the facings, make them porous and unable to maintain their primary function which in turn could cause serious damages to the dam body and eventually endanger its stability. State of the reinforced-concrete facing is, therefore, continually monitored in order to prevent more serious damage. The power plant, its reservoir and dam are located in the area with specific geology, orogenetic, tectogenetic and seismic conditions. They are located in anticlinoria characteristic with existence of many faults and complex regional seismic conditions. Seismic activity of the reservoir vicinity and on the dam had been monitored during the first 10 years of exploitation. During the observation time all changes on the dam and on the reinforced- concrete face slab were registered. Dynamic testing of the dam body was done. These collected data made up a database that was used for drawing conclusions about the correlation between earthquakes and damages observed on the face slab.
