Sažetak
The lecture addressed the role of European chambers of engineers in the process of European integration and contributed to launching the initiative to create the European Council of Engineering Chambers (ECEC). It stressed that ECEC should help and foster the process of harmonising national construction legislation with the European legislation ; promote education of engineers and continuous professional development, speed up the process of professional recognition and working mobility of chartered engineers ; help in defining the professional qualification standards and association rules, and support the system of freelance engineering professions, following the current EU policies regarding the position of freelance professions in modern societies.
