Sažetak
For period of 2 years (total of 4 surveys), Croatian Centre for Quality Assessment in Laboratory Medicine (CROQALM) was offering proficiency testing for adrenocorticotropin (ACTH). ACTH was part of Module 8 with various other hormones and tumor markers. For Module 8, CROQALM used commercially available control material Acusera Immunoassay Premium Plus manufactured by Randox. In all 4 surveys, we observed high CV for ACTH ranging from 23% to 47% for all participants (N=13-14) and from 25% to 40% for the largest Roche peer group (N=11-12). ACTH instability in patients’ plasma samples is well known. Depending on manufacturer, it can be unstable in control samples as well. Manufacturer claimed ACTH was stable for 4 hours upon reconstitution when stored at 2˚C to 8˚C and all participants have been given the same instruction. Our aim was to evaluate manufacturer’s claim for ACTH stability in control material used by CROQALM.
