Sažetak
The quality of life related to health is part of a segment which is a factor of the overall quality of life. There are different dimensions used to assess the quality of life of children and young people that can be a predication for creating a healthy lifestyle in adulthood. The aim of this paper is to determine whether there are differences in quality of life of primary education students between subsamples defined according to the macroregion in which they live. A total of 430 4th-grade elementary school students in the Republic of Croatia, aged 10.37±0.49, participated in the research, divided into two macroregions. To assess the quality of life, the Croatian version of the KIDSCREEN-10 Questionnaire was used. Research results show a high mean value of the overall assessment of quality of life (4.33). Students' perception of their free time is higher among respondents from the Adriatic macroregion compared to those who live in the Continental region. Causes can be attributed primarily to the fact that students from the Adriatic region live in larger cities, so they are probably less burdened by family obligations, as evidenced by significant differences in another variable, where students evaluate their relationship with their parents. Students from the Continental macroregion believe that their parents treat them less fairly than parents from the Adriatic region. Future interventions aimed at improving quality of life should take into account physical activity as well as some social aspects, primarily of socioeconomic nature, because they can have the greatest impact on the population of primary education students. Based on previous research, it can be concluded that quality of life is becoming one of the key factors in lifestyle of children and young people, and that it is a quality element of interdisciplinarity in different scientific fields.
