Sažetak
The paper deals with the emergence of rude negations in Croatian colloquial language, with special reference to examples with the component kurac 'dick'. The paper carries out a pragmatic and syntactic analysis of such examples from Croatian web corpora and discusses whether the concepts of grammaticalization and pragmaticalization apply to them. The analysis is preceded by an overview of research dealing with rude negations, their definition, and illustrations of their general characteristics in Croatian and certain other European languages.
