Sažetak
Surgical drains are artificial tubes inserted to evacuate gas or various body fluids or to monitor hemorrhage by measuring the amount of blood in the drain container, with empty drains indicating no discharge. However, in the case we present here the drains were empty despite large intraabdominal haemmorhage, which led clinicians away from haemorrhaging, and to the completely different differential diagnosis pathway, that, in turn, delayed the correct diagnosis and almost ended fatally for the patient. Having in mind this case of drain failure, we underline the importance of critical approach to the patient, so that the appropriate diagnosis and treatment would not be delayed.
