Sažetak
Introduction: Neoplasms of the testis comprise a morphologically and clinically diverse group of tumors. They can be divided into germ cell tumors and non-germ cell tumors. Germ cell tumors are relatively rare (1-2%). The most common presentation of testicular tumor is a painless testicular mass. Sex cord/stromal tumors are rare, comprising approximately 4% of testicular neoplasms. Ninety percent of these tumors are benign, and 10% are malignant. Case report: We present a 60-year old male who initially presented in 2007. with asymptomatic scrotal swelling that lasted for 2 months. On palpation, the right testicle was hard and minimally painful. Ultrasound of the scrotum showed the right testicle with a centrally positioned hypoechoic heterogeneous formation with a diameter of 25.7 mm. LDH, AFP and BHCG values were normal. Radical orchidectomy of the right testicle was performed. The material was sent for pathohistological diagnosis to the Department of Pathology in Osijek, and also in Zagreb for consultation. Pathohistological diagnosis revealed that it was a unclassified mixed tumor of germ cells and gonadal stroma. No additional treatment was needed. The patient is now in a good general condition, without recurrence of the disease, and is regularly monitored by a urologist at the hospital in Vukovar. Conclusion: Radical inguinal orchiectomy is the initial treatment of choice. Due to the rarity of this type of tumor and lack of data in scientific literature, additional research is needed to determine the best treatment methods.
