Sažetak
Weed control is one of the most important factors in all agricultural plant productions, but especially in arable production due to the large areas where it takes place. Weeds are unwanted plants that occur in places where arable crops are grown, depriving them of moisture, nutrients and sunlight and can have a significant negative impact on crop yields. After the discovery of highly effective herbicides, weed control in agriculture has been carried out for years almost exclusively by chemical methods, but the intensive use of herbicides has resulted in world wide problem of environmental pollution. Recognizing the negative effects of chemical methods on the environment and human health, scientists and inventors are trying to find and adopt alternative weed control methods that require minimal amounts of herbicides or are completely feasible without their application. Rapid advances in electronics, computers and computer technologies and the development of vehicle guidance systems together with the introduction of precision agriculture have opened the possibility of using robotic systems in weed control. Many robotic weed control systems have been developed with different weed control methods such as selective chemical spraying, mechanical weed removal, using flame, steam and electric discharge, but none of these robotic systems entered wider application nor into regular production. The goal of our project is to develop a robotic weed control system that will be efficient, cost effective and widely applicable in arable crop production. The work of this robotic system is planned in fleets with the use of several smaller robots with navigation control units and dimensions that will allow movement in the inter row crop area and taking into account the soil configuration and potential obstacles. For weed detection will be using cameras and image recognition software which compares the contours of each individual plant and those that are recognized as weeds will be destroyed by a laser beam. The laser beam that eliminates weeds would be aimed directly at the growth centre of the plant that is not the desired crop and the intensity of the laser beam will be precisely determined with regard to the type and height of the weeds.
