Sažetak
Effective local government management implies the assumption that the executive authority has at its disposal accurate information about all the important changes occurred in the administrative area. The problem of illegal construction is one of the biggest challenges faced by local government, especially on the Adriatic coast of the Republic of Croatia. The efficiency of solving the mentioned problem depends on the timely and accurate information, which enables quick reaction in preventing the occurrence of major damage in the area and consequently on the local budget. Modern ICT tools enable high interaction between all stakeholders, which provide the local government with all necessary information about illegally built objects, in real time, enabling a quick reaction in the form of suppressing the further spread of illegal usurpation of space and sanctioning the lawbreakers. Ultimately increasing the efficiency of the local government management, reducing the negative consequences and leading to positive financial trends on the local budget. This paper provides answers to several key questions about the impact of ICT tools for reporting illegal construction and increasing the local government management efficiency in dealing with illegally built buildings and their impact on strengthening the financial position of the local budget.
