Sažetak
The contemporary Croatian writer Jurica Pavičić deals with different aspects of the Croatian transitional society through the representation and positioning of post-socialist identities. Some of his characters experience a tragic fate because they are unable to fit into the post-socialist and post-war reality, some deliberately opt for the outcast position completely convinced of the rightness of their ways, whereas some accept the illusion of transitional prosperity. They are all connected by their deep-seated solitude and exposure to the anomalies of the transitional society while they attempt to self-actualise within a culturally specific Dalmatian region where they live. In this paper, we have focused on the presentation and positioning of post-socialist identities in Jurica Pavičić’s short stories The Buried Dog, The Guardian Angel and Two Tenors.
