Sažetak
As the society is moving more and more towards racial and ethnic equality, instances of racial and ethnic stereotyping in the mass media have become intolerable. However, they are still present in many mass media outlets, including animated films. In order to shed a light on this issue, this Master’s thesis deals with the racial and ethnic stereotyping of Arabs, African Americans and Scots in the animated films released by The Walt Disney Company. On the whole, this lack of racial and ethnic diversity is quite prominent in Disney’s films, not only from earlier, but also from more recent periods of production. Even though many stumbling blocks have been surpassed, more attempts ought to be made in order to create a more inclusive and diverse tomorrow. Animated films put under the scope of this work include Aladdin (1992), The Princess and the Frog (2009) and Brave (2012).
