Sažetak
In the world of animation, Tim Burton and the Quay brothers stand as the major figures recognizable by their dark and bizarre style which carries many elements of Gothic literature. This thesis will explore the ways Gothic elements are used in Burton’s Vincent (1982), Frankenweenie (1984 & 2012) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) as well as in the Quays’ In Absentia (2000), The Piano Tuner Of EarthQuakes (2005) and Stille Nacht short series. By giving a detailed analysis of these films the thesis will tackle the question about similarity of Burton’s and the Quays’ works and the possibility to study them in the same context.
