Sažetak
This paper presents a brief insight into the development of the gangster genre, from its beginning in the silent era up to the appearance of The Godfather saga. Apart from the genre’s history, the focus is placed on the stylistic elements of the first two films of The Godfather Trilogy and their stylistic characteristics. These include narrative techniques, mise-en-scène, cinematography, sound and other aspects of filmmaking that influence the meaning and the overall style of any film. The paper also covers gender issues presented in the films along with a comparison to the novels, upon which the films were based. Similarly, the paper also provides an insight into different uses of stylistic elements in the films in comparison to the novel.
