Sažetak
The clinical manifestations of ATS in children are very rare. However, the process of ATS starts in infancy and may have an early impact on the onset of the disease. In addition to environmental risk factors, many inherited and acquired diseases contribute to its rapid development. Among them, dyslipoproteinemias has an important place, whether caused by excessive and inappropriate diet or by primary and secondary disorders of lipoprotein metabolism. Educating the wider population and advocating for healthy life habits should prevent risky behaviors. Adopted healthy lifestyles, early identification of children at risk and appropriate treatment prevent or delay the severe clinical consequences of ATS and high mortality from CVD.
