Sažetak
Due to the importance of transportation infrastructure, the implementation of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has recently become more common. Typical examples are long span bridges that represent a capital investment and where the application of a monitoring system fits very well into the bridge management system. The Pelješac Bridge is one of the few examples in the Republic of Croatia where the monitoring system was used during the construction phase and later for load testing. In order to meet the basic requirements for mechanical resistance and stability and to evaluate the behaviour of the structure in relation to the project assumptions, static and dynamic load tests of the bridge were performed. The load (800 tonnes in total) was placed in the most unfavourable position for: piles, bearings, columns, pylons, span and cables. During the static load test (more than 70 phases), displacements, strains and forces were measured. Dynamic load test includes measurements of the basic dynamic properties (natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping coefficient) of the span and cables. In addition to evaluating the behaviour of the bridge, the results collected using the monitoring system and the additional measurements made during the load test are of particular importance for the further management and maintenance of the bridge. Such monitoring system can be used to: a) verify the design values, b) analyse the behaviour of the structure based on records (relative deformations, displacements, accelerations) during important events (strong wind, traffic, ship impact), c) analyse multi-year records for the evaluation of the bridge condition. Finally, the test load results were compared with the calculated values.
