Sažetak
The emergence of real-time services and their rising popularity forces ISPs worldwide to shift their operational networks off the best-effort paradigm. This rather complex shift requires implementation of traffic engineering and QoS mechanisms. In this paper, we investigated the interaction of MPLS Traffic Engineering and QoS capabilities with IP DiffServ mechanisms. We propose a MPLS-based method that steers highly sensitive, real-time traffic, away from over-utilized shortest-path-first (SPF) links in an ISP network. The proposed method will provide means for delivering real-time services across an ISP environment with guaranteed QoS. It will also optimize utilization of network resources and thus improve overall network performance.
