Sažetak
The purpose of this literature review was to summarize the knowledge about the effects of vitamin D on various autoimmune diseases. Research on the effects of vitamin D on the immune system increasingly shows that in cases of deficiency in vitamin D, adequate supplement-ing doses of this secosteroid, immunomodulatory hormone will enable us to prevent the onset or alleviate the symptoms of most autoimmune diseases. Conclusion – The importance of vitamin D’s influence on the immune system and the consequences of its deficiency will be the interest of future research and will finally reveal the importance of this vitamin in the pathophysiology of immune events.
