Sažetak
The aim of this research was to determine gender differences in fundamental motor skills of manipulation the ball in 4-year-olds. The study was conducted on 114 preschool children, 62 boys and 52 girls. The battery of variables included in the research consisted of two motor tasks for the assessment of fundamental motor skills: rolling the ball (MTRB) and throwing the ball (MTTB). To determine the difference between boys and girls, t-test analysis was used. Also, the correlation analyses were provided to establish possible connection between basic anthropometric characteristics and success in motor tests. From the obtained results of descriptive statistics, it can be concluded that in average, boys are more successful in both motor test for evaluating manipulative skills with ball. Furthermore, t-test analysis confirmed that there is a statistically significant difference between genders in motor test throwing the ball in favor of boys. Additionally, the calculated Pearson’s coefficient of correlation appears to be significant and it points out the connection between body height, body weight and both motor tests. From that data it can be concluded that taller and heavier respondents have advantage in manipulative skills of manipulation with ball. Correspondingly, in this research the boys had higher proficiency in both motor tasks. They are faster than girls in rolling the ball around the stand and they throw the ball farther in distance.
