Sažetak
Ovaj rad u analizi 20.000 dijelom objavljenih i neobjavljenih dokumenata o hrvatskoj pomorskoj povijesti (u četiri sveska Hrvatskih pomorskih regesta 18. stoljeća: 1985., 1993. i 2017. te 2021. godine) prikazuje projekt izdavanja oko 100.000 pomorskih dokumenata koji se tiču hrvatskih zemalja u 18. st. i njihovih ljudi: Codex Diplomaticus Maritimus Croatiae. Začetnik tog projekta bio je prof. Nikola Čolak 1956. u Zadru. Vrela prikazuju nevjerojatnu živahnost i poduzetništvo hrvatskih paruna, kapetana, mornara, brodovlasnika, brodograditelja, trgovaca i svih drugih uključenih u pomorski svijet hrvatske svakodnevice na Jadranu u suodnosu ne samo s drugim hrvatskim i talijanskim gradovima Jadrana, nego i ostalim gradovima unutar Mediterana (Levante i Ponente), kao i izvanjadranskih ruta prema sjevernim lukama (Engleske, Nizozemske, Norveške, Rusije i dr.). Dokumenti jasno i iscrpno progovaraju o upornosti i žilavosti „malih ljudi“ koji su se borili da uzmu učešće u trgovini i razmjeni. Svjedoče o raznim i zanimljivim pričama naših ljudi koji su plovili pod raznim zastavama (venecijanskom, carskom, dubrovačkom i osmanskom) te o borbama na moru, svađama, prijevarama, brodolomima, o strašnim godinama kuge koja je znala pokositi čitava sela u Dalmaciji i njenoj unutrašnjosti te se širiti i na drugu obalu. U golemu bogatstvu tema koje ovi izvori nude, u ovom će radu biti prikazani vrste i tipovi brodova koji naši ljudi grade, pregrađuju, kupuju, preprodaju i koji su im glavni izvor prihoda i zarade. Riječ je o preko 80 različitih naziva koji raznim karakteristikama oslikavaju stvarni život 18. stoljeća kako na moru tako i u lukama u kojima su pristajali radi utovara/istovara robe, prijevoza ljudi, popravaka i mnogočega drugog.

CROATIAN MARITIME REGESTA OF THE 18TH CENTURY:
RECENTLY PUBLISHED SOURCES ON THE DAILY LIFE OF
THE ADRIATIC – TYPES OF SHIPS AS ONE OF THE
POSSIBLE ANALYSIS
This paper analyzes 20,000 published and
unpublished documents on Croatian maritime
history, i.e., the four volumes of the Croatian
Maritime Regesta of the 18th century (the fourth
currently in preparation to be published in 2024)
and presents the project for the publication of
about 100,000 maritime documents concerning
Croatian territories and their people in the 18th
century: the Codex Diplomaticus Maritimus Croatiae
/ Croatian Maritime Diplomatic Code. The project
was started by Professor Nikola Čolak in 1956 in
Zadar. The sources show the incredible vitality
and entrepreneurship of Croatian paroni, captains,
sailors, shipowners, shipbuilders, merchants,
together with all the other subjects involved in
the daily maritime world of the Adriatic in
relation not only to other Croatian and Italian
Adriatic cities, but also to those of the
Mediterranean (Levante and Ponente) such as those
of the trans-Adriatic routes to the northern ports
(England, Holland, Norway, Russia, etc.). The
documents speak clearly and exhaustively about the
tenacity and steadfastness of the "little people"
who fought day by day to take part in trade and
exchange by sea. They testify to various and
interesting stories of coastal and sea people who
sailed under various flags (Venetian, Imperial,
Dubrovnik’s and Ottoman) of sea battles, quarrels,
frauds, shipwrecks, and the terrible pestilential
years that had exterminated entire Dalmatian
villages and its hinterland to spread also on the
other coast.
In the vast wealth of topics that these sources
offer (onomastics, genealogy, ships, trade,
maritime routes, pilgrimages, relations with other
peoples and much more), this contribution presents
the types and typologies of ships that small and
medium-sized entrepreneurs had built, adapted,
purchased, resold and which constituted their main
source of income and earnings. A total of 25,500
ships or vessels have been found, whose 82
different terms and various characteristics offer
a portrait of daily life in the 18th century, both
at sea and in ports where they docked to load and
unload goods, transport people, carry out repairs
and much more. In terms of number of presences,
these are primarily the trabaccolo (4,048
mentions, i.e. 15.87% of the total traffic), the
nava/ship (3,448, 13.52%), pielego/pieleghetto
(2,374, 9.31%), tartane (2,209, 8.66%), bastimento
or ship/sailer (1,704, 6.68%), polacre (1,703,
6.68%), brigantine (1,283, 5.03%), marciliana
(1,189, 4.66%), ketch (1,158, 4.54%),
barca/barchetta (1,040, 4.08%), felucca (956,
3.75%), frigatoon (831, 3.26%), brazzera (413,
1.62% ), legno or ship (294, 1.15%), tartanone
(271, 1.06%), pink and small pink (232, 0.91%),
tartanella or small tartane (228, 0.89%), pedotta
or peota (156, 0.61%), vessel or nava (150,
0.59%), nave atta or state warship (144, 0.56%),
galley (128, 0.50%), grippo ( 118, 0.46%), xebec
