Sažetak
Many cemeteries in the Danube Area have been researched and used as the main source of knowledge of Iron Age communities in the Croatian part of the Danube valley. The interpretation of the anthropological and archaeological analysis of the female graves from Batina and Sotin has opened various questions for future research on mortuary contexts. In our analysis, we use 15 graves from 2 different sites as an example that will help us interpret the life and death of females in the Danube Region. We present data on their lifestyle, age of death, cremation processes, body disposal, sex, gender and costume items. Also, the steps in developing our methodology of reading grave contexts will be discussed along with the open questions from our practice.
