Sažetak
Three-week workshop with sixth- to eighth-graders (n=19) covered three epidemiological concepts about benefits and harms of consumption or exposure to foods, medicines, or environmental factors. We assessed health literacy (communication, attitude, and behavior toward using the concepts) according to knowledge about concepts and self-efficacy. Only seven (37%) finished due to schoolwork and all had good knowledge. Median scores out of the maximum were: 14/25 (communication), 9/10 (attitude), 8/19 (behavior), and 9/12 (self-efficacy). Those with good self-efficacy had 14/25, 9/10, 11/19 for communication, attitude, and behavior, respectively. Relationships between knowledge, self-efficacy, and health literacy toward these epidemiological concepts require longitudinal investigations.
