Sažetak
At any point during the ship's voyage, the crew or passengers may have a medical condition that requires urgent treatment. The term urgency on board has a different definition than in conditions on land. Crew members on board are trained for first aid and have completed a course in advanced medical care. There are medical materials, aids and medicines on board. When a person who is trained to provide first aid on board is not sure of his procedures for working with a specific patient, he turns for medical advice. When providing first aid, it is extremely important that the person providing it be calm and follow all the necessary procedures in providing aid. If the ship's crew needs medical advice, they can get it free of charge through terrestrial communications via radio telephone or via two satellite communications networks using priority dialling via satellite telephone.
