Sažetak
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is the foundation of the future of the road transport system, as it enables autonomous geospatial connection of all traffic participants, continuous determination of their position and speed, and active traffic management. The system enables continuous monitoring of changes in position over time of each traffic participant, in relation to the road and other participants and their absolute and relative speeds. It is the basis for monitoring and managing active safety, increasing the efficiency of road traffic, for the purpose of modeling traffic flows and reducing congestion, as well as controlling and reducing harmful emissions and noise levels. Therefore, the introduction of the GNSS system on Croatian motorways is a long- term priority, especially in the tourism strategy based on the dominant arrivals of tourists on motorways.
