Sažetak
In 2020 three mortar samples from different sites and chronologies were distributed among 11 radiocarbon laboratories as a part of the Second International Mortar Dating Intercomparison Study (MODIS2). The samples were in form of bulk mortar and crushed and sieved particle size fraction smaller than 150 µm. The Zagreb Radiocarbon Laboratory approach on radiocarbon analysis of the MODIS2 samples was two ways to separate 32 – 63 µm particle size fraction and to collect three CO2 – gas fractions by sequential dissolution with acid. The first fraction was reported as the age of the mortar, while other were used for characterization of mortar. Data extrapolation of the result was also used (but not reported to MODIS2) and for some samples gave results closer to the expected historical age. Here we present different approaches to radiocarbon mortar dating, the three MODIS2 samples and the results from the Zagreb Radiocarbon Laboratory.
