Sažetak
The term sport implies physical activities performed for various reasons. Originally sport covered any form of play and entertainment, while today this term refers to various motor activities of a different and dynamic character. Now the focus of training is on athlete's abilities, qualities, and knowledge. The reasons for doing sports are various: leisure, body development, improving abilities, competitive spirit and so on. However, when it comes to competing and being the best, sport has become such a serious activity that it cannot be understood as a game in the broad sense, from which it undeniably originated. Relationships in sports cannot be understood outside of the legal framework defined by sports law. This is especially true with competition regulations, but also in other accompanying elements of sports organization. In addition, sports activities often take place outside national borders, when it’s important to honor their international legal dimension. Sport is a commercial activity that brings great profit. A large part of this income comes from various activities such as branding, merchandising, licensing, etc., which involve the exploitation of various intellectual property rights. In every sports field, inventors and creators are working behind the scenes to push the boundaries, creating new opportunities for enjoyment, while improving the performance of athletes. Patents drive technological advances that result in better sport equipment. Trademarks, brands, and designs contribute to the clear identity of sport events & teams which enables sports organizations to finance high-profile sporting events and increase their potential for generating revenue. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) emphasizes that innovation and creativity are key drivers of the world of sports.
