Sažetak
Schools carry out extracurricular activities to meet pupils' different needs and interests. The pupils choose them independently to gain additional knowledge in an area of interest to him. The Society of Robotics of Istria organizes "The Robot Race of the Ring" (in Croatian "Robotrka na prstenac") which is inspired by the "The Race of the Ring" (Trka na prstenac). Primary school pupils from Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties can participate in the competition, divided into teams of three members. According to the rules, within a maximum of 12 seconds, the robot must cross a 150 cm track and hit the ring hanging above the track with a spear, earning 0, 1/2, 1, 2 or 3 points. In the competition, we use mBot, which is upgraded with a Servo Pack, camera and is controlled via a joystick. The Servo Pack controls the spear by moving it up or down. It is possible to use other types of robots in the competition. The robot is controlled via a joystick or another remote control. During the race robot has to cross a 150 cm path in max. 12 seconds and hit the ring with the spear. The race is conducted in three disciplines: semi-automatic, manual, and manual control from the robot's perspective. With semi-automatic control, the robot follows a line that leads it to the ring through sensors, and the competitor can only move the javelin manually after the robot has crossed a third of the track (50 cm) with its front wheels. The competitor fully controls the robot's movement and the spear with manual control. In manual control from the robot's perspective, the competitor fully controls the movement of the robot and the spear, but by following the robot's movement using the image on the laptop monitor that is displayed from the camera mounted on the robot. Pupils are happy to participate in the preparations for "The Robot Race of the Ring" competition, which is held at Primary school Juraj Dobrila Rovinj as part of extracurricular activities in informatics. By participating in the competition, pupils acquire the skills of managing a robot through three different disciplines. The pupils get to know their native heritage through participation because "The Race of the Ring" was first mentioned in historical records in 1696.
