Sažetak
During the COVID-19 pandemic, national governments have implemented suppression measures focused on reducing people’s mobility and social interactions. For that reason the number of trips, either mandatory or voluntary, decreased. The impossibility of leaving the place of residence, the ban on going to work, the reduced load on public transport, etc., led to a smaller number of personal vehicles and public transport vehicles on the roads. The integration of mobility, safety and behavioral data related to COVID-19 leads to interesting conclusions. During the lockdown, traffic on some motorways decreased by 80%. In connection with this data, the question arises whether the reduction in traffic load has also led to a reduction in the number of traffic accidents. The paper systematically and statistically approaches the assessment of road safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, based on statistical data of Croatian motorways.
