Sažetak
In 1997, the Kyoto Protocol, a global agreement on climate change, was adopted and signed by almost all members of the United Nations. Within this protocol a “cap and trade mechanism” for CO2 emission trading has been adopted. In that time it seemed to be good way along with other two mechanisms for taming growing greenhouse gases emissions especially that of CO2. The government sets the limit i.e. "cap" on carbon dioxide emissions permitted across a given period and are subject of trade whether to be sold or bought. Permits are issued once a year, according to predefined criteria. After pandemic 2020 and related 5.2% emissions reduction rapid economic and economic recovery followed in 2021. During long period increase of emissions is followed by strong rise of permits price on market. As example of a company involved in the cap and trade system Croatia Airlines is chosen and basic facts considering this issue are analysed.
