Sažetak
Due to the high intensity that characterizes basketball game, there is a need for a high level of development of motor skills, motor and functional abilities, but also cognitive abilities. A large number of movements are not rectilinear but with changes in the movement direction and rhythm. For this reason, it is important to evaluate the players’ movement technique using start acceleration tests and agility tests. By continuous and targeted work on the components of speed and start acceleration, aerobic endurance, and the ability to change the movement direction, it is possible to directly influence the players’ situational efficiency (performance). With the available modern technology for conducting diagnostic procedures, an individual approach to each player is provided with the aim of his/her improvement in the areas that have been identified as deficient. The aim of this paper is to determine the impact of the planned and programmed 8-month training process on the development of men’s youth basketball players. The sample of subjects consisted of 12 players (average age 14.83 ± 0.72 years, average body height 189.88 ± 5.81 cm and average body weight 81.61 ± 17.69 kg). All players underwent the initial and final testing aiming at identifying certain morphological characteristics and the level of performance in motor and aerobic capacity tests. In order to gain insight into the significance of the change in results between the repeated tests, ANOVA was used for repeated measurements. There was a statistically significant difference in the 20m sprint test (p = 0.04). Also, there was a statistically significant difference between the 1st and 2nd measurement in agility tests (p = 0.00). The availability of modern diagnostic equipment combined with professional work of coaches in controlled conditions has enabled significant progress of young basketball players in a short period of time.
