Sažetak
Our research project aimed at professional development of mathematics and biology teachers started in 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. Besides Mathematics and Biology teachers and teacher educators, the project also includes university professors of Pedagogy. In the Croatian education system, pedagogues are experts who, among other things, analyse teaching and facilitate teacher professional development. The objective of the action research was to utilise project results in order to improve Pedagogy courses taught by the authors. The aim was to make sure that our teaching was based on the constructivist and situational learning theory. Changes were identified by analysing student discussions about mathematics and biology classes, their action research reports and group interviews. It was found that involvement of Pedagogy students in project activities contributed to the development of their professional competencies, preparing them for the world of work. This concerns developing their competence to analyse recorded Mathematics and Biology lessons and to participate in online discussions about said lessons. Moreover, by conducting their own action research, students learned how to be actively involved in educational changes. The results of this research may inform curriculum planning in terms of teaching aimed at developing future pedagogues.
