Sažetak
The purpose of development of monitoring programs for invasive alien species (IAS) is to identify potential areas and dynamics of spread of species that can threaten biodiversity and cause economic and health damages. We developed monitoring programs for two invasive plant species of different abundance and distribution: widespread Ailanthus altissima and narrowly distributed Ludwigia peploides. Both species are on the list of the IAS of Union concern. The monitoring plan included selection of mapping quadrants, sampling design, defining observation parameters, estimating work effort, frequency of fieldwork and provided information on data analysis. The methodology is primarily defined based on the distribution of target species and habitat suitability. For A.altissima length of roads and species occurrence were additionally taken into account when choosing quadrants for monitoring. For L. peploides scoring system was developed additionally, based on length of slower streams, areas of water bodies, areas important for birds (Special Protection Areas), species presence and occurrence of localities with amphibious communities. In addition, citizen science and the remote sensing were also explored as optional methods for the monitoring of this IAS species. The results showed that species abundance, distribution and propagation vectors should be taken into account when developing monitoring programs.
