Sažetak
Erium-based nanostructured high-entropy oxides (HEO) are promising catalysts due to the high reactivity of cerium. High-entropy oxides have already shown outstanding photocatalytic properties toward the decomposition of organic dyes. In this work, cerium-based nanostructured HEOs with perovskite structure were synthesized using a green and inexpensive modified citrate solgel method. Nitrate salts of lanthanide elements were used as precursors in the synthesis. In accordance with green chemistry principles, water was used as a non-toxic solvent. The synthesized compounds were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (TGA/DSC), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photocatalytic activity of the compounds was tested towards the degradation of synthetic organic dyes, such as methylene blue (MB), naphthol green (NG), and rhodamine B (RDB), with and without the addition of hydrogen peroxide as an initiator. The results showed that these compounds are promising candidates for the degradation of water-soluble organic dyes.
