Sažetak
Leaching of elements from abandoned coal ash landfills is a global environmental problem.[1] In addition to groundwater pollution, elevated concentrations of elements can be found in biota, such as garden vegetables, decades after landfilling. [2] The first step in risk assessment of such landfills is to determine the mobility of inorganic pollutants. The mobility of 28 elements (Li, Be, Rb, Mo, Cd, Sn, Cs, Tl, Pb, Bi, U, Al, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Sr, Sb, Ba, As, Se) from two Croatian coal ash landfills was tested using the ASTM extraction method. To determine the influence of liquid to solid ratio on the mobility of elements, samples from Štrmac were tested using the LEAF 1316 method. Total and mobile concentrations were measured with HR-ICP-MS which emphasizes the indispensable use of ICP-MS for environmental risk assessment.
