Sažetak
A novel method for the synthesis of two-component nanoparticles has been developed. The method is based on the fabrication of targets using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique where thin layers of metals (Ag, Pt, Au) have been deposited on a metal-oxide bulk substrate (ZnO). The deposition was performed in vacuum while target and substrate were rotated to avoid drilling and to ensure homogeneous film deposition, respectively. With the PLD technique, metal-oxide bulk is coated with metals of different layer thicknesses. Such formed structures were used as a target for the synthesis of colloidal solution of two-component nanoparticles (Ag: ZnO, Pt: ZnO, and Au: ZnO) by laser ablation in liquid. Laser ablation was performed using Nd: YAG laser operating at 1064nm, 300 mJ of output power, and a 5 Hz repetition rate. Masses of deposited metal layers were measured by ultrasensitive weighting while a mass of ablated ZnO bulk was determined by evaluation of craters left after ablation using optical microscopy. In that way quantization of synthesized two-component nanoparticles was performed. Two-component nanoparticles were characterized by SEM, EDS, XPS, and UV-Vis techniques. Additionally, Ag: ZnO nanoparticles were used for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes. It was found that the amount of doped Ag on ZnO plays an important role in the photocatalytic activity.
