Sažetak
Authors hypothesized that users engage in three main digital activities: using online social networks, participating in online meetings and conversations and seeking information via internet. The 12 items included in the measure were: using cellphones and computers, browsing the web and news websites, actively seeking more information via internet, scrolling through one’s social media, commenting on other people’s posts, making social media posts, adding new friends, communicating via email, joining work-related virtual meetings, and joining some type of virtual socializing. Participants were asked to rate how often they have engaged in specific types of digital activities during the past week on a five- point scale. Participants (N=194), of which 111 were female and 83 were male, were between the ages of 19-67, with a mean age of 29 and SD= 10, 27. Research was conducted online. CFA showed poor Goodness of fit indices for a three- factor structure with all 12 items. Four items deteriorated both factor structure and reliability of the subscales: scrolling through one’s social media, communicating via email, using cellphone, and using computer. The four aforementioned items were removed and an additional analysis with the remaining 8 items was conducted. CFA showed a good fit of three- factor structure: seeking information, social media use and virtual communications (Chi-squared =32.849/df=17=1.93, p=.012 ; CFI=.972, TLI=.955, RMSEA=.069, SRMR=.037). Browsing the web and news websites and actively seeking more information via Internet comprised the seeking information subscale. The social media use subscale included commenting on other people’s posts, making one’s own posts, and adding new friends. Finally, the virtual communications subscale consisted of joining work- related virtual meetings and joining some type of virtual socialization. Reliability analysis showed adequate internal consistency for all three factors: seeking information α=.83, social media use α=.76 and virtual communications α=.62.
