The future of telecommunications exists now in the form of 3G (3rd Generation of Mobile Networks). This technology will provide a wideband radio interface connected to a flexible core network. 3G will provide more bandwidth to the customers and greatly increase the possible services that operators can offer. However, there are only few services that visually demonstrate the power and ability of 3G. If 3G fails to &#8220 ; impress&#8221 ; the users at its launch, the 3G market may take off slower than expected. A number of services are therefore required to distinguish 3G from existing systems. Video telephony is one of those services. This paper describes the functionality and the services provided with Video Gateway node, including call scenarios, internal and external interfaces.
