Sažetak
Aim:To study the distribution of allele frequencies of SE33short tandem repeat (STR) locus and diversity in the referencesample of the Dalmatian population and compare Dalmatiandata with those obtained from geographically neighboring Euro-pean populations.Methods:A total of 100 unrelated individuals from differentparts of Dalmatia participated in this study. NucleonÔBACCKit was used for DNA extraction from whole blood after whichquantification, PCR amplification and detection was performed.Electrophoresis of the amplification products was performed onan ABI 310 PRISM. Deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilib-rium, observed and expected heterozygosity, power of discrimina-tion and power of exclusion were calculated.Results:Statistically significant deviation from Hardy-Weinbergequilibrium (P< 0.05) was found for observed locus (SE33).Values of pairwise Fst indicate no significant genetic differenceamong Dalmatian and population from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbian as well as Macedonian population. Conclusion: Observed locus shows high heterozygosity (88.54%). Deviation from Hardy– Weinberg equilibrium was found and indicate exigency to expand the sample for such a polymorphic locus like SE33.
