Sažetak
Differential cross sections for the scattering of Na(3S) and Na(3P) from H2O have been measured in a crossed-beam experiment. The total differential cross sections measured at collision energies between 0.2 and 1.3 eV show double-rainbow structures. They are attributed to two different geometries of the sodium-water collision complex. A simple evaluation yields the pairs of (relative) minima of 28±4 and 233±32 meV for the Na(3S)-H2O and 30±4, 499±17 and 271±5, 759±22 meV for the Na(3P)-H2O interaction. The reactive cross sections are found to be less than 10% of the non- reactive ones even under the most favourable conditions, namely Na(3P) colliding with H2O at 1.3 eV.
