Sažetak
State of the art stylus instruments have built - in different components that enable precise positioning of stylus tip resulting in better repeatability of measurement results. Possibility of precise positioning of stylus tip in relation to the m easuring surface has a significant role in situations where it is important that roughness profile begins at an exactly defined point. Perthometer S8P, manufactured by Mahr Perthen, is a very precise and reliable measuring instrument with a good ratio o f measuring range and resolution. However, with these measuring instrument it is not possible to precisely determine the position of the probe tip in relation to the measuring surface nor to ensure a precise relative displacement of the artefact in later al directions. This paper propose an upgrade of the stylus instrument Perthometer S8P with a vision system and a pair of motorized translation stages in order to improve the positioning of the probe tip and consequently enable better repeatability of me asurement results and facilitate the use of this measuring instrument
