Sažetak
Bios – life is all around us, we are an active and inseparable part of it, it is all we know, and it is continuous. Humans did not create life and they do not possess it, rather, it is an obligation for human species to protect life as we found it for ourselves, for all other partakers of its miracle, as well for the generations to come. This can be done in environmental bioethical frame where unique platform for resolving certain issues concerning complexity of life offers an inter-, multi-, and transdisciplinary viewpoint. Integrative bioethics so breathes with pluriperspectivity gathering scientific and non-scientific contributions on specific subject. It represents a new era in approaching the problems in every area of human existence. This allows to retrospect and return to millennial of profound positive interrelationship between man and his environment as examples of old Hebrews, Indians and Eskimoes are testifying. It makes possible to see the dangers and (ir)responsibility in genetic manipulations regarding reviving of extinct organisms as well as the dangers of extinction of contemporary species like bees. Bioethics is important in educating engineers especially the ones dealing with environmental issues. And it is something that should be thought to children from an early age so they could be better stewards of nature than the generation before. Croatia, besides its beautiful placement, has a rich bioethical history and through its passionate researchers gives a plentiful contribution to the development of worlds bioethical thought specially presented every year on Lošinj Days of Bioethics.
