Sažetak
This study evaluated antibiotic susceptibility and presence of blaOXA22 and blaOXA60 genes in 81 isolates of R. pickettii which were obtained from different purified and ultra-pure water systems from two different geographical areas of Croatia. Disc diffusion (DD) and E-test tests were performed to determine minimum-inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of eleven (11) antibiotics: ceftazidime, cefepime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, imipenem, meropenem, gentamicin, netilmicin, amikacin, ciprofloxacin and piperacillin- tazobactam. Additionally, the susceptibility to other eight antibiotics: piperacillin, ticarcillin-clavulanate, aztreonam, gentamicin, netilmicin, amikacin, ciprofloxacin and sulfametaxazol/trimetoprim was determined by disc diffusion test. The results revealed variable resistance profiles. Our isolates exhibited high susceptibility rates to ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, piperacillin-tazobactam, cefepime, imipenem and piperacillin, and in lesser extent to ceftazidime. High rates of susceptibility were also exhibited for sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim and ciprofloxacin. High resistance rate was observed for ticarcillin-clavulanate, aztreonam and meropenem, as well as for all aminoglycosides tested and tigecycline. Modified Hodge test was positive in 51, 9% strains, indicating production of carbapenemase. blaOXA22 gene was detected in 37, 0% and blaOXA60 in 80, 3% strains.
