Sažetak
The neuroendocrine stress axis operates in the fetus from midgestation and includes the production and secretion of the corticotropin releasing hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol. Fetal glucocorticoid overexposure affects neurodevelopment, as well as the development of many organs and organ systems, and has lifelong consequences.
