Sažetak
A PC-based system was designed and implemented for EMG and gnathosonic signal measurements in clinical dentistry. The system was applied for simultaneous measurements of the electrical activity from the m. masseter superficialis and m. temporalis anterior and sounds of occlusion, recorded with microphones attached to the cheeks, which were taken as an analogue of the teeth contact. In this paper, problems in the approach to electromyographic silent period parameter measurements due to its amplitude and frequency spectrum are discussed. Silent period latency and duration were measured by means of cursors on the PC monitor. Specific software was developed for automatic silent period latency and duration measurements enabling different parameter set-up in algorithms. The results obtained with automatic measurements were compared to manual readings. The algorithm best matching with manual readings is proposed to be included into an interactive program with visual presentation of measured signals and numerical readings of silent period latency and duration.
