Sažetak
Forearm diaphyseal fractures should be operative treated to provide axial and rotational alignment due to functional and anatomic features. The gold standard of operative treatment is anatomical reduction with open reduction and internal fixation using the dynamic compression plate. Additionally, this method has some limitations in forearm fractures with extensive soft tissue damage, severe swelling, open fracture, and comminuted or segmental fracture. In order to overcome these problems, intramedullary nailing has been proposed as an alternative method for stabilizing and maintaining the reduction of forearm fractures. Intramedullary nailing of adult forearm fractures is a safe and effective treatment option that results in reliable union rate and good to excellent clinical outcome.
