Sažetak
The aim of this study was to examine the influence of the clenching level on the EMG activity of the anterior temporal and masseter muscles, as they are principal jaw-closing muscles and are responsible for the path and strength of mandibular closure. By biofeedback method a control of the clenching level from the right temporal muscle was obtained during the voluntary clenching of teeth in maximal intercuspal position EMG activity was recorded by surface electrodes on 8 young subjects with natural teeth by using the eight channel PC based EMGA-1 device, specially designed for the purpose of the electro kinesiological examinations of the stomatognathic system. Three different levels of the EMG activities (EMG1-maximal. EMG2-moderate, EMG3-low voluntary contraction) reveal the changes in the asymmetry indices which were calculated by the Naeije formula. It was noticed that higher values of asymmetry indices were obtained for the moderate and low clenching levels in comparison to maximal voluntary clenching level. The influence of the musculary balanced position of final jaw closure was concerned.
