Sažetak
The capacity of sociological imagination is an indispensable prerequisite in locating one’s position in the broader socio-historical context. However, sociological imagination alone is not sufficient to provide exhaustive comprehension of a social world. The latter mainly depends on an activity of theorizing as a process that may lead towards formulation of a theory as its final (but not necessarily only) product. This primarily epistemological paper is anchored in an analysis of the process of theorizing: it discusses diverse types of theorizing, its fundamental elements, features and attributes, its sequences, different outcomes, delineates obstacles in implementing theorizing and indicates its shortcomings, tackles the issue of epistemic connection, considers the topic of heuristic, examines ways in which theorizing can be enhanced, as well as modalities of fostering creative theorizing etc. In the concluding section, the tremendous relevance of systematic efforts to improve theorizing activity in order to attain general advancement of sociology is emphasized.
